CHEC has always been concerned with the web of relationships between ecosystems and human societies in the Commonwealth. Our projects have focussed on showing and educating people on the importance of human ecology and respect for our environments and each other. As part of this it’s always been clear that aggression, violence and war have no part to play. Therefore, the unfolding events in Ukraine have been a concern and shock to us all.
Yesterday, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations the Rt Hon Patricia Scotland, QC released a statement on behalf of The Commonwealth in response to the ongoing invasion in Ukraine. In the release, the message was clear that the Commonwealth stands against acts of aggression universally, not just within Commonwealth member states, and that they stand and strive for peace.
As a Commonwealth and peaceful organisation, CHEC fully supports this message. In the Commonwealth and the world, CHEC stands against aggression and violence. Instead, we stand for peace and hope. We stand in full support of the people of Ukraine.
If any readers or supporters of CHEC would like to also stand in support of the people of Ukraine details can be found below of ongoing charity appeals:
