Kabir Shaikh, CBE, was Director of Education for UNRWA/UNESCO providing education for half a million Palestinian refugee children in the Middle East. He was also Director of Education for Bournemouth LEA in England. In January 2013 he set up Asia and Pacific Region’s first UNESCO Category 1 Institute – The Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development based in New Delhi, India as its Interim Director.
His other contribution includes being the Chair of the Partnership Board for Leicester City Education, Member of Advisory Forum to the Royal Naval School of Educational Training and Technology ,Chair of the Steering Group of Local Education Authorities for the provision of Science Services, and Member of the Governing Board of Arts University, Bournemouth
He has extensive International Experience and has been the Vice President of CASTME, on the Board of CEC and on the International Advisory Council to the Government of India for Auroville Foundation.
He was awarded a CBE for services to Education and an honorary doctorate by the Open University, UK
