COP26 Daily Preview: Sunday 7th November

The daily preview for Sunday 7th November is a bit different compared to our other previews. Why? Well, because the official COP26 pavilions use the Sunday as a day of rest and recuperation.

That means that there are no events taking place in the following Pavilions that we usually report on:

However, that does not mean that there are no events. There is still plenty happening in the Green Zone Programme of Events and other side events happening online and around the world. You can find out what's going on with these below:

Despite the rest day many COP26 pavilions are having, there is still a bumper amount of events taking place in the Green Zone at COP26 on Sunday 7th November.

Event Description: Join us for a film screening! "The Ants the the Grasshopper," a new documentary by author, filmmaker and academic Raj Patel, shows how the fight for climate action will also be a battle for food sovereignty, racial justice, and gender equality around the world. A conversation between Patel and Food Tank President Danielle Nierenberg will follow the film's screening. 

Corporate Courts = Climate Chaos

Event Host: Global Justice Now, Organised by War on Want, Powershift, Transnational Institute, Seattle to Brussels Network, Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development and Corporate Europe Observatory.

Event Description: ‘Corporate courts’ (also called ISDS) are a legal mechanism in trade deals that can block climate action and exacerbate global injustice. The session will hear from an activist and a government representative in the global south who are fighting back against corporate courts and their destructive impacts on our planet, communities and democracy.

Event Description: Join us online live from COP26 in Glasgow for a youth organised masterclass and Q&A with Ian Solomon-Kawall, founder of The May Project Garden and Hop Hip Gardens, who will be discussing the importance of Permaculture and ways in which to empower young people to take action against Climate Change.
