Resumed high-level segment

The resumed high-level segment of COP 28/CMP 18/CMA 5, will take place today Saturday,

9 December 2023 in Plenary Al Hairat and will begin at 10.00 hrs.

Participants are asked to take their seats in Plenary Al Hairat by 09.45 hrs. to ensure that the opening can begin promptly.  The resumed high-level segment will hear national statements from Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and senior officials of Parties whose Head of State or Government did not deliver a national statement on 1 or 2 December during the first part of the high-level segment held

during the World Climate Action Summit, and representatives of groups who have registered and confirmed their wish to deliver a national or group statement.

The resumed high-level segment will also hear statements from Intergovernmental organizations and groups of non-Governmental organizations admitted by the Conference of the Parties.  To listen to the delivery of national and group statements and statements by observer organizations during the resumed high-level segment, access is open to all Parties including overflow and United Nations organizations.
Intergovernmental and non-Governmental organizations will need a ticket to access the plenary to hear delivery of national and group statements and statements by observer organizations.

The resumed high-level segment can also be viewed on IPTVs screens, the COP 28 platform and webcast.

Please be advised that security and fire regulations do not permit participants to stand, and security will enforce this requirement.

Given the number of Parties and the limited time available for statements, it will be necessary to limit the duration of each statement.

• Representatives of Parties are reminded that national statements should not exceed the three-minute limit.

• Representatives of groups are reminded that group statements should not exceed the five-minute limit

• Observer speakers are reminded that statements should not exceed the two-minute limit.

13.15 – 14.45 High-Level Event on Artificial Intelligence for Climate Action hosted by the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism in collaboration with the COP 28 Presidency
Meeting Room 1

The event will feature high-level remarks on the just and inclusive use of AI for climate action, showcases of AI-powered adaptation and mitigation solutions in LDCs and SIDS, a presentation on the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism #AI4ClimateAction initiative, and the launch of the AI Innovation Grand Challenge.
