Fogamomi Niccolo Moeono

Nicc is a Matai Ali’i (high chief) from the village of Falefa in Samoa, hence the name Fogamomi. Fogamomi Nicc Moeono is a recipient of the New Zealand Aid MFAT scholarship where he studied a Bachelor of Engineering Honours in Mechanical engineering at the University of Waikato. Upon his return to Samoa, he was quickly hired by the Electric Power Corporation (EPC) as an engineer specializing in renewable energy. EPC has a national goal to become 100% renewable by 2025. Nicc is involved and making this goal a reality with the EPC. Nicc is also the Impact Officer and Curator elect 2022/2023 for a non-profit organization called Global Shapers Apia. Nicc is also the Global energy ambassador Climate linkUP.

Nicc’s dedication to climate mitigation is seen through his voluntary work to help communities save energy, transition to renewable technology and provide technical expertise. Many of Nicc’s climate activism can be seen on Radio New Zealand (RNZ), The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), featured as one of eight “Earth Guardians on Coconet TV”, The Samoa observer and has performed energy consultations with National University of Samoa (NUS) and other stakeholders.
