COP30 Day 10
Day 10 of COP30 centered on transforming global agriculture and food systems, underscoring that resilient, equitable, and low-carbon food production is critical to climate action. The launch of the RAIZ Accelerator marked a major milestone, mobilizing private capital and advanced mapping tools to restore degraded farmland across ten participating countries—an urgent task as over 20% of global agricultural land is already degraded. Key initiatives for family farming and aquatic food systems further demonstrated momentum: the TERRA Plan placed family farmers, Indigenous Peoples, and local communities at the forefront of agroecology and agroforestry transitions, while new PAS initiatives under the UN Global Seaweed Initiative and FAO’s Blue Transformation advanced climate-resilient aquatic foods. Meanwhile, the Alliance of Champions for Food Systems Transformation expanded its membership and released new progress frameworks, reinforcing the global shift toward integrated, nature-positive food systems. Significant advances on fertilizer decarbonization—including the Belém Declaration on Fertilizers—highlighted how science, standards, and public–private collaboration can deliver lower emissions, improved yields, and stronger farmer resilience.
The COP30 Action Agenda had a flagship moment as leaders convened to celebrate the impact of 117 Plans to Accelerate Solutions, reflecting how COP30 is reshaping climate implementation through multisectoral cooperation aligned with the First Global Stocktake. Across the Global Mobilization pillar, community voices and youth leadership emphasized the human dimension of food systems transformation. The Mutirão in the Territories event showcased how communities—from forest regions to urban peripheries—are already advancing effective, locally led solutions, while Latin American youth called for renewed multilateralism grounded in justice, culture, and shared responsibility. Collectively, Day 10 showcased how transforming food systems is central to protecting people, revitalizing ecosystems, strengthening economies, and delivering climate action that leaves no one behind.
