COP30 Day 9

On Day 9 of COP30, leaders, experts, and communities united around a shared commitment to protect the world’s key ecosystems — from oceans and coasts to forests and biodiversity hotspots. High-level ministerials set the tone for the day, with one session showcasing global progress on ocean-based climate solutions through the Blue NDC Challenge, and another strengthening alignment across the climate, land, and biodiversity agendas. Together, these discussions underscored that safeguarding nature is inseparable from strengthening resilience for the people most affected by climate impacts.

Throughout the day, countries, Indigenous representatives, SMEs, and regional partners highlighted how local leadership and innovation are driving nature-positive development. New collaborations, including the launch of the NAP Implementation Alliance and the presentation of the Global Ethical Stocktake, demonstrated growing momentum toward equitable, community-centered climate action. The events collectively reinforced a central message of COP30: protecting vital ecosystems is fundamental to protecting people and securing a sustainable future.
