CHEC Publishes 2024 Annual Report

CHEC The Commonwealth Human Ecology Council (CHEC) is pleased to announce the publication of its 2024 Annual Report. Released in September 2025, the report provides a comprehensive overview of our activities, achievements, and impact over the past year. We invite stakeholders, partners, and the wider community to review the report and learn more about our ongoing commitment to sustainable human development across the Commonwealth.

This report provides a comprehensive overview of our ongoing and dedicated commitment to addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by climate change. It places particular emphasis on the 32 Small Island States within the Commonwealth, which face unique and pressing environmental vulnerabilities. Throughout 2024, CHEC strategically concentrated a significant portion of its project activities in the Pacific region, aligning these efforts closely with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) held in Samoa. Within this critically important region, CHEC actively supported a broad range of initiatives designed to strengthen community resilience against various climate-related impacts, promote sustainable resource management practices tailored to local contexts, and facilitate effective collaboration between community-based organizations, local governments, and other key stakeholders.

Toward the latter part of 2024, CHEC further demonstrated its proactive engagement by participating in COP29 in Baku. There, we ensured that the perspectives, priorities, and concerns of Commonwealth nations—especially those of the vulnerable small island states—were effectively represented and voiced during crucial international climate negotiations. This multifaceted approach underscores CHEC’s unwavering commitment to fostering sustainable development and environmental justice throughout the Commonwealth. CHEC out the full report here!
